In a city where only 9% of public school students earn college degrees, KIPP DC’s KIPP Through College (KTC) team works hard to ensure that all KIPP DC students and alumni have the tools and support needed to complete high school and attain a college degree.
Individualized support from the KTC team begins as early as seventh grade to strengthen the college-going atmosphere already infused in the classrooms at KIPP DC. In middle school, KTC is there to help students prepare for the transition to high-performing high schools, including KIPP DC College Preparatory. Throughout high school, KTC stays connected with KIPP DC graduates and offers programming and one-on-one counseling to ensure that each student stays on track for high school completion and college matriculation. Once our alumni are in college, KTC remains a constant support, helping with social and academic integration and the financial hurdles associated with pursuing a degree.
The KTC program would not exist without the support of private philanthropy. Your contributions allow us to offer the supports and services needed to help our students close the college completion gap in D.C.
The Katie Gruenheck Fund for College Completion
The Katie Gruenheck Fund for College Completion helps KIPP Through College guide students as they persist through the challenges of the college experience, supporting their efforts to earn college degrees. The fund was formed by Bob Weinberg in honor of his late wife who was a fierce advocate for first-generation college students. Since the fund’s inception in 2011, Katie’s family and friends have raised nearly $225,000 for KIPP Through College. To learn more about The Katie Gruenheck Fund for College Completion, click here.
