KIPP DC Teacher Receives the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching

We are excited to announce that KIPP DC Heights Academy’s Jennifer Ramsey was honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (PAEMST) this past week. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy recognizes exceptional teachers for their contributions to the teaching and learning of math and science. This award is the nation’s highest honor for STEM teachers, and we could not be prouder of Jennifer’s accomplishment.

Jennifer has been teaching elementary science at Heights Academy for the past three years, instilling a passion for science in KIPPsters. She is committed to expanding STEM education, and has since taken on the role of science instructional coach. In this position, she works with other KIPP DC schools to help them develop their own elementary science programs. We are so thankful for Jennifer’s willingness to share her passion for science education with our team.

Jennifer is committed to helping her students see the real-life application of their school work. She inspires them to ask thoughtful questions and seek out the “why” behind concepts. She is known for partnering with various local organizations to provide students with meaningful learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom. Heights Academy’s outdoor garden has become an extension of Jennifer’s classroom, where her students can apply their studies to the world around them. We are so excited to see what her class does this year!

We want to extend huge congratulations to Jennifer on this prestigious honor. We are grateful to have her on our team & family!
