Grounded in the core values of pride, curiosity, joy, kindness, and love, KIPPsters at LEAP Academy are equipped with the essential academic skills and mindsets needed to thrive in both rigorous and joyful elementary school environments. These values form the foundation for each student’s success, fostering a community of learners who are prepared for future achievement. Recognizing that families play a crucial role in this journey, we actively partner with them through a variety of volunteer opportunities, family workshops, and interactive learning nights. These initiatives help strengthen our community and ensure that families remain engaged and supported every step of the way. Upon completion of PreK4, LEAP students move onto KIPP DC Promise Academy.

Academics
LEAP Academy uses the Tools of the Mind curriculum to develop executive function, promote social-emotional learning, and grow early literacy and math skills.
Teachers and families partner to ensure each student’s individual needs are met—setting a strong foundation for their educational journey.
Play-based learning allows students to express themselves, explore new concepts, and work together with their classmates.
Extracurriculars
LEAP Academy partners with organizations like Dance DC through the Washington Ballet, Mad Science, Sports Club, and Breathing Space DC Yoga to offer students a variety of enriching extracurricular opportunities. The school also hosts engaging events for families and the community, including a Sneaker Ball, Juneteenth Celebration, Muffins with Moms, Pics with Pops, Saturday School, and Movie Night.
We partner with the YMCA for before and aftercare.
