Power Up Program Brings Professional Athletes to the Shaw Campus

Students at KIPP DC Lead and KIPP DC WILL Academy are benefiting from a new program aimed at increasing their physical activity, self-esteem, and sportsmanship. The Power Up program, offered through a partnership with Athletes for Hope, brings in active and retired Washington Wizards and Mystics players to serve as mentors. Students commit to an additional 60 minutes of exercise outside of the school day and log their progress so that they can celebrate their results with the mentors. The program will culminate in a basketball game with professional athletes this June. A huge thanks to Athletes for Hope, Monumental Sports, and all of the players who are volunteering their time to mentor our KIPPsters! Power Up!
