Capital Teaching Residency Application

The Capital Teaching Residency is ideal for those just starting their education careers. Career changers who want to impact the classroom, new college graduates who want to build a solid educational foundation, and new educators who wish intentional coaching to accelerate their practice are encouraged to apply.

We recommend applying for one of two residency pathways based on your background and interests.

Primary Teaching Residents: Intended for those interested in building a solid foundation for young learners in PreK3 – 4th Grade. Residents who successfully complete the program earn teaching licensure in DC.

Secondary Teaching Residents: Intended for those interested in teaching ELA or STEM for students in 5th – 12th grade. Residents who successfully complete the program earn teaching licensure in DC.

We accept applications on a rolling deadline basis.
We recommend applying early, as most of our teachers are hired in late winter or early spring.
