Hundreds of Chromebooks Donated to KIPP DC Students Through T-Mobile’s Project 10Million

Washington, D.C.Tuesday, July 22 — KIPP DC is proud to announce a major technology donation from T-Mobile’s Project 10Million, which will provide hundreds of new Chromebooks to KIPP DC students. Totaling around $380,000 in total value, this donation represents a significant investment in expanding digital access and opportunity for our students.

Through this partnership, hundreds of KIPP DC Legacy College Prep students will receive brand-new Chromebooks at no cost—enhancing access to digital learning and academic success both in and out of the classroom.

Announced in 2019 and launched in 2020, Project 10Million aims to close the digital divide in education by offering free internet connectivity and mobile hotspots for up to 10 million eligible student households. Additionally, the program provides school districts with free or heavily subsidized data plans and ensures that all participants have access to affordable laptops and tablets.

In addition to the donated Chromebooks, eligible students can receive:

  • Free mobile hotspot devices with 100GB of high-speed data per year for five years
  • Optional low-cost data passes for additional access
  • No fees, annual costs, or re-certification requirements
  • Access to at-cost devices for hybrid and remote learning

“Access to reliable technology is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity,” said Shannon Hodge, President of KIPP DC. “This donation helps ensure more of our students have the tools they need to learn, connect, and thrive. We’re deeply grateful to T-Mobile for their commitment to digital equity and for making it easier for families to support their children’s education, both in and out of the classroom.”

This partnership reflects KIPP DC’s ongoing commitment to removing barriers to learning and creating a future without limits for every student.
