"Connect Academy strives to provide children with a supportive, collaborative, and fun learning environment to inspire future academic success. Our teachers see each of their students as unique individuals, and work to connect with them in ways that motivate them personally."

Amber Boothe, Principal, KIPP DC Connect Academy

"The parent organization offer the opportunity to put your imprint on your child’s education. When you drop your child off, they are walking into a different world than what you have at home, so it’s important to unify those two worlds."

AQuia Bratcher, KPO Parent Leader, KIPP DC Connect Academy

"I want my students to have high expectations for themselves and their education. I want them to believe in themselves while understanding that education is the key to breaking through barriers and achieving anything you want."

Emily Coleman, PreK4 Teacher, KIPP DC Connect Academy

"My favorite noise is kids’ laughter. I think my favorite thing is their quirky personalities. You can see the personality traits of who they are going to be."

Janai McElroy, Kindergarten Teacher, KIPP DC Connect Academy

Academics

Connect Academy uses the Tools of the Mind curriculum to develop executive function, promote social-emotional learning, and grow early literacy and math skills for PreK3 and PreK4 students. Kindergarten lead teachers use Reader’s Workshop and My Math curriculums to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for students success in Elementary and beyond.

Teachers and families partner to ensure each student’s individual needs are met—setting a strong foundation for their educational journey.

Play-based learning allows PreK3 and PreK4 students to express themselves, explore new concepts, and work together with their classmates. We build on this foundation in Kindergarten with effective, high-quality, and rigorous instruction that produces academic results and student growth.

Extracurriculars

Connect Academy hosts a number of events to engage families and the community. Past events have included: cheerleading, basketball, international night, parenting classes, ballet performances, and more. Current events include a partnership with The Washington Ballet, a partnership with The Washington Youth Garden, multiple afterschool clubs (including sports and drama club), and monthly parent nights and family nights.

We partner with the YMCA for before and aftercare.
