Panther Pride Celebrated During Homecoming Week

Excitement, creativity, and most of all school spirit were on full display last week as our KIPPsters at KIPP DC College Preparatory celebrated Homecoming.

Spirit Days for homecoming week kicked off on Tuesday with Pajama Day, followed by Character Day on Wednesday with students dressing as their favorite characters from across music, TV, and other forms of entertainment.  Twin Day on Thursday had teachers and staff at the high school seeing double as students in pairs, trios, or even larger groups showed off their spirit by dressing identically for the day.

The halls of KCP were a sea of blue and gold as spirit week culminated with our homecoming pep rally and Spirit Day. The atmosphere was festive and exuberant at the first pep rally to be held at Golden Field, and a strong sense of pride, belonging, and school spirit could be felt as students celebrated what it means to be a Panther.

The football team took the field the following day in our homecoming game, showing tremendous fight but falling just short in a tightly-contested match-up against National Collegiate Preparatory. Still, it’s a win for us all looking back on homecoming week and reflecting on the way our KIPPsters embraced and celebrated their Panther Pride.
