School and Classroom Investment Grants

– Spring 2019 –

All KIPP DC staff members are invited to apply for a special “School and Classroom Investment Grant” to implement an exciting project for your school community. These funds are intended to enable you to do something above and beyond existing school budgets. Have you been wishing you could plan a special field trip or art project, or purchase new books or classroom supplies? Feel free to be creative! Projects must directly benefit students and/or families.

New for the spring 2019 grant cycle, we’re seeking investments that directly support KIPP DC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. While all proposals and ideas will be accepted for review, we intend to award at least 35% of funds specifically to programs that explore curricular or cultural enhancements that build a sense of inclusion and belonging, cultivate shared knowledge, skills, and mindsets across teams, engage students, staff, families, and partners in our commitment to DEI, and/or enhance school-specific equity action plans.

Grant Proposal Guidelines

  • You may request up to $5,000.
  • Please do not include technology expenses (hardware or software) unless you have explicitly discussed it with the Instructional Technology team.
  • Grant funds cannot be spent on employee salaries.
  • If your proposal supports KIPP DC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, please indicate that in the application and explain how.
  • All projects must take place by June 7, 2019 and grant funds must be fully expended by June 30, 2019.
  • The leader(s) of each winning project will receive a $200 administrative stipend (maximum two per project).
  • A brief report will be due upon completion of the project, outlining the use of funds and describing key outcomes.

Proposals are due by 9:00 am on Monday, February 25, 2019 and will be reviewed by a panel of KIPP DC staff members. We expect the process to be very competitive. Proposals will be judged based on scope of impact, clarity of objectives, creativity, and feasibility. Award announcements will be made in March.

Please note the application for this grant has closed. Applicants will here back by Friday, March 8.
