ReOpening Updates + Select Learning Model by Friday, July 17

KIPP DC Families,

We want to thank all of our parents.  We know that this time period has brought even more challenges to parenting and supporting your students’ learning at home.  We appreciate everything that you are doing We miss you and we miss seeing your amazing children every day.

We have been working hard all summer to plan the safest and highest-quality programming we can. Based on public health guidance, staff, and family feedback, KIPP DC is in the process of finalizing our reopening plans. The health and safety of our community is our most important priority. We will continue to make all decisions related to the upcoming school year in line with public health guidance and informed by the needs of our students, families, and staff.

For students and staff who return to our campuses in person, we will be implementing health screenings, smaller student groupings, social distancing, deep cleaning, face coverings, and more. You can access detailed information about all of these health and safety protocols, as well as our learning models by visiting our website regularly for the latest information on the upcoming school year. Get a preview of how schools will operate this fall by watching this short video.

We are committed to meeting the needs of all of our students as we reopen. When school begins in August, we will offer two different options for parents to choose from. We will offer various re-entry points to in-person learning or switching to remote throughout the 2020-21 school year.

Hybrid In-Person & Remote Option

Families who select this model will receive in-person instruction. Based on the Department of Health guidance this will start with 1 day a week (with 6-9 students in the classroom). This will change to 2 days per week as soon as possible, based on health guidance. The remainder of days, students will be taught remotely by KIPP DC teachers. Learn more about what this will look like day to day.

Virtual-Only Option

For those students who may be unable or uncomfortable returning to school in-person, we will have a fully virtual learning option where students will learn online from home. Learn more about what this will look like.  For information on Pre-Existing Conditions & High-Risk Individuals, please visit our Healthy Operations webpage.

Please take a few minutes to complete this required form to select which learning cohort you intend to select for your student by Friday, July 17. This selection will be for August & September. In September you may change your learning model preference.
