Grounded in the values of Community, Grit, Honor, and Joy;  Arts & Technology Academy prepares students with the academic, intellectual, and character skills that are necessary for success in excellent elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, colleges, and in the competitive world beyond.

KIPPsters begin their educational journey in a nurturing, play-based environment. Teachers use the Tools of the Mind curriculum to develop executive function, promote social-emotional learning, and grow early literacy and math skills.

Located in the heart of Ward 7, KIPP DC’s Smilow Campus educates more than a thousand students. Beautifully renovated in 2016, the campus has a robust partnership with a number of local nonprofits and community organizations surrounding the campus. The Smilow Campus is home to three KIPP DC Schools (PreK3 – 8th).

"Allison Artis joined KIPP DC in the summer of 2014 and is currently the principal of Arts & Technology Academy. She previously served as the dean of students and principal of Howard University Middle School. Ms. Artis received a bachelor of arts in elementary education from Howard University, a master of arts in early childhood special education from George Washington University, and has completed all coursework for a doctorate in educational administration with a concentration in special education law at Howard University."

Arts & Technology Academy hosts a number of events for families and the community. Past events have included: Donuts with Dad, healthy eating presentations, and more. We partner with the Springboard for before and aftercare.
